Self-Initiated work

2022 - 2023

Embarking on this non-commercial, self-led project I delved into creating an exhibition identity for the captivating works of Alexander McQueen
who is undoubtedly one of my favorite creators.

The project came to mind following the recent exhibition "Rebel, 30 Years of London Fashion.” held at the Design Museum. The focus was to encapsulate the essence of McQueen's legacy, paying homage to his long standing distinctive visual presence while introducing contemporary elements, drawing together the identity of the Design museum, and Mcqueen.

Straying away from McQueen's distinctive serif typeface became an early decision within the process, It felt important to  avoid relying on the familiar characteristics already defined within Mcqueen’s practice, and to explore fresh design avenues. I opted for a grotesk typeface, with its geometric features drawing inspiration from the modern identity of the Design Museum. This choice simultaneously injects contemporaneity into McQueen's visual narrative while presenting as a vibrant reminder of the enduring presence and influence of McQueen's legacy.
